Euro 2024 Preview, Prediction and Outside Bets
Group A Group B Group C Group D Group E Group F
Germany
Germany qualified for these Euro 2024 finals by virtue of being the host nation which is just as well given Die Mannschaft's recent ordinary results on the international stage which culminated in another disappointing showing in a major tournament as they failed to qualify from Group E courtesy of an inferior goal difference to Spain.
Since bowing out of the Qatar World Cup, Germany have played a string of international friendlies in preparation for Euro 2024 but having managed to capture just five wins from their 13 friendlies, their opening game of the tournament against Scotland could be a tricky affair, despite beating France twice and a win against Netherlands in these aforementioned internationals.
Scotland
Scotland made an explosive start to their European Championship qualifying campaign as the Scots won each of their opening five games in Group A which included recording important and impressive wins against Spain 2-0 at home and then a 2-1 win away from home at Norway.
Steve Clarke's side failed to win their last three group games but points earned in draws with Georgia and Norway confirmed Scotland's runners-up position behind Spain.
Having lost to England, France, Netherlands and Northern Ireland in recent international friendlies, Scotland's opening game against Germany could be an interesting encounter.
Hungary
Hungary qualified for Euro 2024 by virtue of finishing top of their qualifying Group G as the Magyars remained unbeaten throughout the group campaign, picking up five wins and three draws in a group that also consisted of the likes of Serbia, Montenegro, Lithuania and Bulgaria.
This will be the third European Championship on the trot which Hungary have qualified for and coach Marco Rossi and his side have built some impressive momentum heading into the Euro finals in Germany as they are unbeaten in their last 14 internationals overall, while losing just once in their previous 18 games.
The Hungarians could be dark horses to qualify from this group.
Switzerland
Switzerland finished runners-up in Group I six points behind the winners, Romania, having suffered just one defeat throughout the campaign and edging out third placed Israel for the coveted top two spot thanks to notable results against Israel winning 3-0 at home along with a point in a 2-2 draw at home with Romania.
Since that 6-1 mauling at the hands of Portugal in the Qatar World Cup, Switzerland have made themselves tough to beat as coach Murat Yakin, a former defender himself, tightened things up at the back which has resulted in just one further loss in Switzerland's subsequent 12 internationals overall.
However, with just two wins in their last nine games and being involved in no fewer than six stalemates, the Swiss will need a more incisive cutting edge up front if they're to progress out of Group A.
Group A Predictions
Germany's home advantage could be a double-edged sword as the weight of expectation could cancel out their home crowd advantage, while Scotland and Switzerland could be battling it out to avoid bottom place in the group.
Hungary arguably boast the best sequence of results heading into these finals and they should be respected here.
Therefore, our main bet will be Hungary to qualify from Group A @ 1.66
Other side bets:
Switzerland to NOT qualify from Group A @ 2.50
