Portland Timbers vs FC Dallas Preview

Portland Timbers entertain FC Dallas in an all-Western Conference clash at Providence Park on Sunday evening with the hosts looking to lift themselves into the Final Series play-off positions with all three points here, while FC Dallas know that all three points against their hosts would send them to the top of the Conference.

It's now four games without a win for Portland Timbers who have picked up points in draws with Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders but these have been overshadowed by defeats to Minnesota United and Sporting Kansas in 1-0 and 4-1 defeats respectively, leaving Portland sitting in a lowly 11th place in the Western Conference table.

The bigger picture shows Dallas have lost just three of their last 12 matches overall in the MLS, a sequence that also includes four stalemates but having managed to register just two wins from their previous 11 outings on the road (including four draws), the visitors may have to settle for a point apiece against Portland Timbers on Sunday evening.

It's interesting to note that the previous two meetings between Portland Timbers and FC Dallas have both ended in draws, and in particular, 1-1 draws at that, and given Portland's and FC Dallas's ordinary results of late at home and away respectively, the prospects of another stalemate at Providence Park look pretty promising.
