Mid-table club, Halmstads, were dealt a heavy 5-1 thrashing away from home at the Swedish Allsvenskan leaders, Malmo, in last weekend's action which has resulted in the hosts dropping down to eighth place in the table, while AIK also tasted defeat last weekend when they were handed a disappointing 2-1 loss at home by Kalmar, so both teams will be eager to set the record straight in this upcoming clash at Örjans Vall.

That heavy loss away from home at Malmo also became Halmstads' fifth defeat in seven games in the Allsvenskan which throws huge doubt over whether the hosts can bounce back with a win here on Monday evening following recent losses at the hands of Kalmar, Mjallby, Djurgarden, Elfsborg and the aforementioned Malmo.

However, it should be noted that four of these five defeats that Halmstads have suffered were actually away from home and recent wins on home soil against the likes of Hacken 3-0 and GAIS 4-0 should still give Magnus Hagland's side plenty of confidence ahead of this upcoming fixture.

Goals look likely to feature on Monday night as well, as no fewer than seven of Halmstad's last 10 games in the Allsvenskan have produced three goals or more.

AIK slipped to a fifth defeat in six games in last weekend's Allsvenskan action as they were dealt a disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Kalmar and although they registered a resounding 5-2 home win against IFK Gotenborg in recent weeks, the losses have far outweighed that minimal success.

Defeats at the hands of Sirius, Elfsborg, Hammarby, Hacken and Kalmar have prevented AIK from lifting themselves further up the Allsvenskan table and indeed the visitors have now dropped down to 10th place in the Swedish top flight standings where they now only hold a four-point cushion above third from bottom outfit, Kalmar.

Three of AIK's five recent defeats have also been inflicted upon Henok Goitom's side on their travels where the visitors have still yet to register their first away win of this season's campaign, and the bigger picture shows AIK have now failed to win any of their previous 12 outings on the road, slumping to eight defeats in the process.

The goals market though definitely appeals for this upcoming fixture as no fewer than eight of AIK's last 10 matches overall in the Allsvenskan have resulted in Over 2.5 goals being scored and nine of their last 12 away games have also seen AIK concede two goals or more as well.
