Sevilla return to the more familiar surroundings of their Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán for Friday night's clash against Villarreal after picking up a solid point in a 2-2 draw away from home at Las Palmas, while Villarreal were also involved in a stalemate in last week's opening game of the La Liga season when they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Atletico Madrid.

The point gained in last week's 2-2 draw at home with Las Palmas at least halted a previously miserable four-match losing streak towards the end of last season's Spanish domestic top flight campaign for Sevilla who had slipped to losses at the hands of Villarreal, Cadiz, Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona respectively which in turn resulted in the hosts finishing in a disappointing 14th place in the table.

Nevertheless, Villarreal also picked up nine wins in the process including a 5-3 win away from home at Barcelona, so Marcelino's side will be confident that they too can gain a positive result here at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Friday night.

Results away from home also improved towards the end of last season's campaign as Villarreal were dealt just the single loss in their final nine outings on the road whilst collecting five wins during this period as well.

However, Villarreal have found clean sheets hard to come by on their travels in La Liga as the visitors have managed just one shut-out in their last 15 away games.
