Cadiz play host to early La Liga strugglers, Almeria, at their Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla on Saturday evening with the hosts keen to return to the more familiar surroundings of their home ground following last weekend's understandable 2-0 loss away from home at Barcelona.

Cadiz had previously recorded a 1-0 home win against Alaves on the opening day of the new La Liga season and home turf advantage appears to be the hosts' best chance of keeping themselves away from the relegation battle again this term as the hosts lost just six of their 19 home games in the previous campaign.

Form at home was vitally important last term as Cadiz lost 10 of their 19 away games and managed to capture just three wins in the process but the hosts finished last season having won their last three home games on the trot.

Victories against Valencia, Real Valladolid and Celta Vigo ensured a reasonable 14th place finish in the La Liga table and more importantly, a two-point buffer above the bottom three clubs, and this season's win against Alaves makes it four wins on the trot for the home side.

It's very early days of course but Saturday's visitors, Almeria, find themselves in early trouble down near the foot of the La Liga table as they sit second from bottom of the division and have yet to gain a single point from their opening two games of this new campaign.

Early back-to-back defeats to Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid were bad enough but to make matters worse, both of these losses were incurred on home soil at their Power Horse Stadium, so this upcoming trip to face Cadiz looks to be another tough assignment for the visitors.

Almeria came even closer than hosts Cadiz to falling through the trap-door and down into La Liga 2 as they ended last season's campaign just one league position and one point above the relegation zone which was no thanks to failing to win any of their last three matches of last term.

A 1-0 defeat away from home at Real Sociedad was followed by points picked up in draws with Real Valladolid and Espanyol which just about saved their bacon as they also prevented these two teams a chance to move above them in the table as well.

Cadiz look the more likely to take the spoils in this upcoming fixture as the hosts have lost just once in their last 14 meetings with Almeria and having already registered a home win so far this season, while Almeria have lost both of their home games, it's Cadiz that should walk away with the all-important three points at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla on Saturday evening.
