Aberdeen will head into Sunday afternoon's clash with Kilmarnock brimming with confidence following back-to-back wins to start this new Scottish Premiership season off with a bang for The Dons, while by contrast, Kilmarnock have suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of this new Scottish top flight season so the visitors will make their way to Pittodrie looking to avoid a third league defeat on the trot.

Aberdeen have pretty much picked up where they left off from the end of last term as The Dons have collected early season wins against St Johnstone and St Mirren in 2-1 and 3-1 wins respectively and these have piggy-backed off an impressive and solid looking nine-match unbeaten sequence towards the end of last season's campaign.

Despite being handed four defeats on the trot from the end of February through to mid-March with losses incurred against Kilmarnock, St Johnstone, St Mirren and Dundee, Aberdeen have subsequently embarked upon an 11-game unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership which includes picking up eight wins in the process.

Results on home soil at Pittodrie have also been pretty solid where Aberdeen have been concerned as The Dons have been dealt just two defeats in their previous 14 games and this record suggests Aberdeen will be tough to beat on Sunday afternoon.

Kilmarnock have found it tough going already at the start of this new season as the visitors have had to balance the bread and butter of the Scottish Premiership with involvement in European competition following last season's creditable fourth place finish in the Championship Round group.

On the European front, Kilmarnock started this season in the Europa League qualifiers where the Scottish outfit lost 2-1 on aggregate against Belgian club, Cercle Brugge, which meant Killie then had to drop down into the UEFA Conference League.

A 3-2 win on aggregate against Norwegian outfit Tromso resulted in Kilmarnock progressing through to the play-off stage but following a 2-0 loss away at FC Copenhagen in the 1st leg on Thursday night, Derek McInnes' side now have a mountain to climb in next week's return leg at their BBSP Stadium Rugby Park.

Returning to the domestic top flight, Kilmarnock have made a miserable start to this new Premiership campaign as the visitors have been dealt heavy defeats by Celtic 4-0 on the opening day of the season along with a 3-0 loss at home to St Johnstone last time out.
