Aberdeen slumped to a fifth defeat on the trot in the Scottish Premiership last weekend when The Dons were dealt a disappointing 2-0 defeat away from home at Motherwell which also extended the hosts' winless run in the domestic top flight to a worrying 10 games now.

Hearts by contrast will be going in search of a third league win on the trot in the Scottish top flight after the visitors have posted recent back-to-back wins and although The Jambos still occupy second from bottom place in the Scottish Premiership table, these wins have now given the visitors an eight-point cushion over bottom placed St Johnstone.

Hearts have handed themselves what could prove to be a crucial lifeline in terms of avoiding relegation from the Scottish Premiership in recent weeks as The Jambos have registered important wins against Motherwell and Dundee United respectively, and given Aberdeen's current predicament, Neil Critchley's side might just fancy their chances here.

A disastrous start to this Scottish Premiership campaign resulted with Aberdeen failing to win any of their opening eight games overall, slipping to no fewer than six defeats within this poor period of results.

However, the visitors have continued to fight against possible relegation and a sprinkling of wins from mid-October through to date have helped earn Hearts crucial breathing space near the foot of the Premiership table where they possess an eight-point cushion over St Johnstone.

Six wins from their last 14 games is not particularly impressive but in the context of how bad Hearts' season has been so far this term, these wins have been most certainly welcome and The Jambos will now approach this upcoming fixture with renewed confidence.

Goals look the best option again though when looking at Hearts' results away from home as six out of Hearts' last 10 outings on the road have resulted in both teams scoring as well.
