Brann vs Kristiansund Preview

Brann suffered a heavy 3-1 loss at home to Molde on Sunday in the Norwegian top flight but the hosts do at least have another chance to redeem themselves on home soil on Wednesday night in the Eliteserien when they play host to lower half outfit Kristiansund at their Brann Stadion as the hosts look to bounce back with all three points here in midweek.

That recent loss to Molde became Brann's second defeat so far in this season's Eliteserien campaign as Eirik Horneland's side had also previously slipped to a 2-0 loss at home to Fredrikstad but having also picked up six wins as well this term, Brann still remain in contention for a possible top four finish this season as the hosts occupy third spot.

Just two points separate Brann from the league leaders Bodo/Glimt prior to these midweek fixtures on Wednesday night so there's plenty of incentive for Brann to set the record straight in front of their home fans here, especially as four of Brann's six wins to date this season have been achieved at their Brann Stadion.

Victories at home against HamKam, Odd, Rosenborg and Sandefjord should give them plenty of confidence in gaining all three points in this encounter, although goals could be in short supply with six of Brann's 11 games overall resulting in Under 2.5 goals. Kristiansund dropped down to 12th place in the Eliteserien standings following a 2-1 defeat away from home at Rosenborg on Sunday which in turn also extended the visitors' winless run in the domestic top flight to six games overall.

The visitors have had to endure three draws but also three defeats within this slump in form which have seen Amund Skiri's side slip to losses at the hands of Bodo/Glimt, Haugesund and Rosenborg respectively which does not appear to bode well for this upcoming trip to take on high-flying Brann.

The bigger picture shows Kristiansund have registered just three wins out of their last 18 matches overall in the Norwegian top flight, two of which have been recorded on home soil at their Nordmøre stadion while results away from home have been even less impressive.

Kristiansund have managed to capture just two victories from their previous 22 outings on the road whilst also being handed no fewer than 16 defeats in the process, so the prospects of an away win here for the visitors look highly doubtful.
