Serie A, played Sunday, August 25th, 2024
Here is our Torino v Atalanta tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a draw. Our confidence in this tip was moderate relative to other tips.
Torino gained a worthy point in a 2-2 draw away from home at AC Milan in last weekend's opening game of this new Serie A season which will give them a boost ahead of this upcoming opening home game of the campaign against an Atalanta outfit who achieved European honours at the end of last season after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the Europa League final in Dublin.
Although Torino managed to capture just two wins from their final eight games of last season's campaign, the hosts nevertheless finished in the top half of the Serie A table in ninth place which was Torino's best finish in the domestic top flight since the 2018/19 season when they achieved seventh place.
Wins against Verona and AC Milan, the latter being a resounding 3-1 home win against the Italian giants towards the end of last season were unfortunately outweighed by being dealt three defeats at the hands of Empoli, Inter Milan and Atalanta, all of which were incurred on their travels.
Form on home soil though at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino was highly impressive for Torino who suffered just the single defeat in their last 14 home games along with picking up seven wins in the process and this gives the hosts a decent chance of getting something out of this upcoming clash on Sunday evening.
Atalanta achieved a creditable fourth place finish at the end of last season's Serie A campaign which secured the Italian club an automatic place in the group stage of the Europa League where they flourished, finishing top of Group D and remaining unbeaten in their six group games.
Atalanta therefore progressed through to the knockout stages of the competition where they registered wins against Sporting Lisbon 3-2 on aggregate, a 3-1 win on aggregate against Liverpool and a 4-1 win over two legs against Marseille en route to the final where they recorded an impressive 3-0 win against German club Bayer Leverkusen.
An Andre Lookman hat-trick sealed Atalanta's triumphant evening in Dublin and although they suffered a 3-2 loss at home to Fiorentina on the last day of the season, that result proved to be immaterial and indeed, the visitors bounced back with a comprehensive 4-0 rout of Lecce away from home in last weekend's season opener.
That result at Lecce last weekend now makes it four wins on the trot on their travels, having accounted for the likes of Monza, Salernitana and Lecce towards the end of the previous campaign.
Torina v Atalanta Verdict
Both Torino and Atalanta will therefore fancy their chances of claiming all three points here on Sunday and this fixture could well end up with both sides hitting the back of the net, resulting in a possible score-draw.
Therefore, our main bet will be BTTS Yes @ 1.80
Other side bets worth considering:
Draw @ 3.10
Correct Score: 1-1 @ 6.00
