PSG vs Rennes Preview

PSG were held to a 1-1 draw away from home at Reims last weekend in the French Ligue 1 which the French giants will have seen as two points dropped but they now return to the Parc des Princes for this Friday night clash against Rennes where Luis Enrique's side will be keen to return to winning ways, while Rennes also picked up a point in a 1-1 draw last weekend against Lens.

PSG sit level on points with both Marseille and Monaco after the opening five games of this new French domestic top flight season so the Paris club will no doubt be keen to collect all three points in this upcoming encounter against Rennes in order to establish some sort of lead over their early rivals.

Having previously picked up four wins on the trot overall in Ligue 1 which consisted of victories over Le Havre, Montpellier, Lille and Brest, PSG will be confident that they can revert back to their winning habit, especially as they had previously won their preceding six games on the trot, while the bigger picture shows the hosts have been dealt just the one loss in their last 34 matches in Ligue 1.

Rennes have produced a bit of a mixed bag in the french top flight so far this season as the visitors have registered two wins, a draw but have also slipped to two defeats as well within their opening five games of the new term.

Wins against Lyon and Montpellier, both of which were recorded on home soil at their Roazhon Park have been offset by losses incurred against Strasbourg and Reims, both of which were handed out to Julien Stephen's side on their travels.

The visitors have struggled to put any sort of winning momentum together in the domestic top flight as Rennes have managed to capture just four wins in their last 13 matches overall which also includes victories against Nantes and Metz (both away from home) but also slipping to seven defeats within this period as well.

Results (and wins) on the road have been sporadic at best as well for Rennes who have picked up just two victories out of their last nine games on their travels and having also been dealt five defeats as well, Rennes look to have their work cut out here.

PSG have been largely dominant on home soil at their Parc des Princes ground in the French top flight and the hosts should once again claim another three points here on Friday night with perhaps a clean sheet as well.
