Nice dropped down the Ligue 1 standings to fifth place following a 2-1 defeat away from home at Toulouse on Sunday which also extended the Friday night's hosts' winless run in the French top flight to a disappointing five games, while Montpellier were held to an entertaining 2-2 draw at home with Strasbourg but this was not enough to prevent the visitors from dropping down into the relegation play-off spot in the Ligue 1 table.

Recent defeats to Brest, Rennes, Lyon and Marseille have resulted in Montpellier dropping down into the relegation play-off spot and having also slumped to five defeats out of their last six away games in Ligue 1 as well, the visitors look to have a tough job on their hands when they visit Nice here on Friday night despite Nice's recent slump in form.
