Monaco slipped to a 2-1 defeat away from home at Lille in the French top flight action last weekend which also resulted with Friday night's hosts dropping down to fifth place in the Ligue 1 table but only three points separate the municipality club from third placed Nice and a possible Champions League spot.

Reims dropped down the Ligue 1 table to a worrying 15th place and now just three points above the relegation play-off spot that is currently occupied by Saint-Etienne following last weekend's 1-0 defeat away from home at Rennes which also became a fourth league defeat on the trot for the upcoming visitors.

Monaco currently occupy fifth place in the Ligue 1 standings but hopes of achieving a Champions League spot this term have come under threat for quite a while now as Monaco have produced an extended run of mixed results overall.

Indeed, Monaco have managed to capture just six wins from their last 16 matches overall in the French top flight, five of which have been registered on home soil at their Stade Louis-II with victories gained over Brest, Toulouse, Rennes, Auxerre and Nantes, the latter being a 7-1 humiliation of their opponents.

However, Monaco have been handed just two losses from their previous 18 home games in Ligue 1 along with picking up a total of 12 wins in the process while also keeping seven clean sheets during this period as well.

Reims are currently having to endure a tough and lengthy winless run of 12 league matches without a win in the domestic top flight which includes losing each of their last four games on the trot.

Recent defeats at the hands of Nantes, Lyon, Angers and Rennes have been bad enough but these have been further exacerbated by the fact that each of their last three results have also seen Reims fail to hit the back of the net as well.

Seven losses overall within these last 12 league games suggest Reims are likely to face further trouble this Friday night when they make their way to the Stade Louis-II to take on high-flying Monaco, especially as Reims have also failed to win any of their last five away games as well.

The bigger picture shows Monaco have managed to collect just three wins from their last 16 outings on the road in the French top flight, so the visitors' prospects of picking up all three points here on Friday night do not look especially encouraging to say the least.
