Tuesday night's hosts in this upcoming midweek clash in Ligue 1, Lille, sit just outside the top six in the French top flight table but they will be eager to assert their authority when Reims come to town to their Stade Pierre-Mauroy with the hosts looking to continue their solid start to this new domestic campaign.

Lille have lost just once in their opening five league games of this season which was a particularly heavy 4-1 loss away from home at Lorient but otherwise the hosts have produced some reasonable results in Ligue 1 as they have collected two wins and two draws to date as well.

Victories in the early stages of this new term against Nantes and Montpellier were both captured on home soil while solid points picked up in draws at Nice and Rennes have given Lille a decent platform from which to launch a possible top three finish this season.

Reims occupy a mid-table position of 10th place in the early Ligue 1 standings after producing an indifferent start to this new term, collecting two wins, a draw but also losing twice as well within their opening five games.

Back-to-back wins against Clermont and Montpellier in 2-0 and 3-1 wins respectively have been book-ended by defeats suffered at the hands of Marseille and Brest while a point picked up in a 2-2 draw way from home at Metz rounds up their opening five results to date.

However, despite their reasonable start, the bigger picture shows the visitors have managed to register just three wins from their last 14 matches overall in Ligue 1, two of which were recorded on home soil at their Stade Auguste-Delaune II and included a 1-0 home win against Lille in early May of last season.

Results away from home have also taken a bit of a dent as Reims have managed to capture just one win from their previous seven outings on the road and having been dealt no fewer than five defeats within this period, this upcoming trip to face Lille could end up in further disappointment for the visitors.
