Lille registered a 2-1 home win against Lens in the French top flight when the domestic top flight season resumed after the international break last weekend and this result also extended the hosts' unbeaten run to four games in Ligue 1 which has helped Lille into fourth place in the table where they trail third placed Monaco by only three points, while Marseille slumped to a second defeat on the trot following a 2-0 defeat at home to PSG which prevented the visitors from making inroads into the top six pack.

Lille have picked up two wins and two draws within their last four unbeaten games and includes victories recorded over Reims and Lens along with picking up points in stalemates with Rennes and Brest to maintain their quest for a possible Champions League spot for next season.

Indeed, Marseille have managed just these three wins in their previous 11 league matches overall in the French top flight, two of which were actually registered on home soil at their Orange Vélodrome while poor results away from home have been the catalyst behind the visitors from failing to break into the top six.

The visitors have collected just two wins from their 13 outings on the road throughout the whole of this season's Ligue 1 campaign with wins at Lorient and Clermont who both occupy places in the bottom three of the division, whilst also falling to seven defeats in the process as well, so the prospects of an away win here for Marseille look to be fairly slim.
