Here is our Brestois v Rennes tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a draw. Our confidence in this tip was low relative to other tips.
This weekend marks the final round of fixtures in the French top flight and features this upcoming clash between 14th placed Brest and fifth-placed Rennes, with the visitors looking to stave off a serious challenge from Monaco for the last remaining European spots.
Brest had previously struggled for positive results in Ligue 1 earlier in the season as the hosts had managed to pick up just one win during a 10-match period from the end of December through to towards the end of February which also included five defeats but they have since clicked into gear and kept themselves out of the relegation battle below them.
Just two further defeats in their subsequent 12 league matches whilst posting an important seven wins in the process has helped save Brest and indeed the hosts have flourished in recent weeks as they have collected three wins on the trot over Auxerre, Clermont and Marseille respectively, but this visit from Rennes is sure to test the home side, despite Brest scoring in each of their last five games.
Rennes occupy fifth place in the Ligue 1 standings and therefore the last European spot in the domestic top flight table with their position being assisted by the fact that they too have won each of their last three league matches on the trot which in turn has helped keep a challenge from Monaco at bay so far.
Recent victories over Troyes, Ajaccio and the aforementioned Monaco, the latter being a solid 2-0 home win may just have given Rennes a slight advantage in the race for a Europa Conference League qualifier spot but the visitors will want to make sure by picking up all three points at Stade Francis-Le Blé on Saturday evening.
However, although Rennes have also scored in each of their last five games overall in the French top flight, a win away from home at Brest may be easier said than done, especially considering Rennes have registered just three wins from their previous 12 outings on the road.
This poor sequence of results on their travels also includes slipping to no fewer than seven defeats as well, so the prospects of an away win at Brest are certainly inconclusive but again, the goals market looks a promising proposition.
Brest v Rennes Verdict
Brest have won their last five home games on the trot and so the hosts will be in confident mood that they can finish this Ligue 1 season on a high note despite the visit of high-flying Rennes on Saturday.
Seven of Brest's last 12 home games have seen both teams score, while seven of Rennes' last 12 away games have also resulted in both teams scoring, so the goals market is worth exploring here.
Therefore, our main bet will be Both Teams To Score YES @ 1.70
Other side bets worth considering:Draw @ 4.20
Correct score: 1-1 @ 8.00
