Lyon were dealt a third league defeat in five games in the French top flight on the weekend as the hosts were handed a 3-2 loss at home to Marseille in Ligue 1, while Olympiakos also tasted defeat in the Greek Super League as they suffered a 2-1 loss on the road at Aris on the weekend which became their first loss of the new Greek top flight season, so both teams will be keen to return to winning ways on Thursday night.

It's been a disappointing start to the new season for Thursday night's hosts Lyon who have managed to capture just the single win from their opening five games of the new domestic top flight campaign which came in the form of a 4-3 home win against Strasbourg but the hosts have also slipped to three defeats already this term.

The Greek outfit had previously put together an impressive five-match unbeaten sequence in all competitions which consisted of four wins and a draw; within these four wins, three were picked up in the Greek Super League against the likes of Volos 2-0, Athens Kallithea 2-1 and Lamia 3-0, the latter being a comprehensive win on their travels.

The bigger picture shows Olympiakos have been handed just two defeats in their last 12 matches overall in all competitions whilst also collecting a total of seven wins within this period as well, which manager José Luis Mendilibar will be hoping will stand his side in good stead for this upcoming trip to the Groupama Stadium on Thursday night.

In addition, goals also look likely from Olympiakos' perspective as six out of their last 10 matches overall have also resulted in Over 2.5 goals being scored as well.
