Southampton slumped to yet another defeat in the Premier League last weekend when the south coast club were dealt a 2-1 loss away from home at Crystal Palace and although Ivan Juric's side now return to the St Marys Stadium, they look a beleaguered outfit right now.

Brentford also slipped to defeat in last weekend's Premier League action as The Bees were dealt a heavy 3-1 loss at home to Arsenal which also became a third league defeat in four games for Thomas Frank's side, leaving Brentford in a mid-table position of 12th place in the English top flight table.

Southampton sit rock bottom of the Premier League table with just six points to their name having registered just the single league win to date, that being a narrow 1-0 home win against Everton back in early November.

Since that rare highlight, The Saints have failed to win any of their subsequent nine matches in the Premier League, slipping to seven defeats in the process which does not bode well for this upcoming encounter at home against Brentford.

Southampton have also picked up just four points from a possible 27 on offer to date on home soil at St Marys Stadium which includes being handed seven defeats, while four of The Saints' nine home games so far have resulted in both teams scoring.

Brentford will also be keen to turn their ailing form around in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as The Bees have suffered three defeats within their last four games overall, slipping to losses at the hands of Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Arsenal respectively.

However, results throughout this season's Premier League campaign have seen Brentford at least hold their own as the London club have collected seven wins, three draws and nine defeats to date within their 19 matches played.

It is worth noting however, that the majority of Brentford's success so far in this season's top flight campaign has been achieved on home soil at their Gtech Community Stadium where The Bees have registered all seven of their wins to date and slipping to just two defeats.

Switch to results away from home though, and you'll notice that Thomas Frank's side have still yet to record an away win so far this term and in addition, The Bees have also been dealt seven defeats within their nine outings on the road as well.

The prospects of an away win here at the St Marys Stadium on Saturday therefore, do not look particularly encouraging but the goals market appeals for this upcoming fixture as both teams have scored in 15 out of Brentford's total of 19 matches played to date.
