Premier League, played Friday, August 16th, 2024
Here is our Man Utd v Fulham tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to not score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a Man Utd home win. Our confidence in this tip was high relative to other tips.
The start of a new Premier League season will unfold at Old Trafford on Friday night when Manchester United play host to Fulham in this English top flight curtain-raiser with hosts Manchester United looking to pick up where they left off at the end of last season, while Fulham will be keen to push on under manager Marco Silva following last season's solid 13th place finish.
Manchester United saved their blushes somewhat by recording a 2-1 win against their rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final back in May which may have also just saved Erik ten Hag's position at the helm of United as well, and having finished last season in a disappointing eighth place, the pressure will be upon the Dutch coach to gain early positive results at the start of this new season.
Nevertheless, Manchester United ended last season's campaign with three wins on the trot which included victories in the Premier League against Newcastle United and Brighton together with the aforementioned FA Cup success.
United had previously strung together an impressive four-match winning streak in the English top flight from early February through to mid-February which consisted of wins against Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa and Luton Town, but the latter stages of the season saw the Red Devils capture just four wins from their final 13 league matches.
A 4-2 win away from home at Luton Town helped Fulham achieve a creditable 13th place finish at the end of the domestic top flight campaign but The Cottagers may have been left wondering what could have been as the London club collected just two wins from their final nine games overall.
A top half finish was certainly within Fulham's grasp as they finished just two points behind 10th placed finishers Crystal Palace and had it not been for slipping to four defeats towards the end of the season, Marco Silva's side could well have picked up even more of a financial boost with a top half finish.
Interestingly, both of Fulham's two wins towards the latter stage of the season were achieved on the road with victories gained at West Ham and Luton Town but having managed to capture just three wins from their last 18 away games in the English top flight, this upcoming trip to Old Trafford on Friday night may be a big ask of Marco Silva's side.
Manchester United v Fulham Verdict
Fulham recorded a 2-1 win at Old Trafford last February but this has been the exception rather than the rule when facing Manchester United as the Red Devils have slipped to just this single defeat in their last 19 meetings against The Cottagers and ten Hag's men should gain the upper hand again once more on Friday night.
Therefore, our main bet will be Manchester Utd win @ 1.55
Other side bets worth considering:
Manchester Utd win & Under 3.5 goals @ 2.75
Correct Score: Manchester Utd 2-0 @ 10.00
