Premier League, played Saturday, March 9th, 2024
Here is our Man Utd v Everton tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to not score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a Man Utd home win. Our confidence in this tip was low relative to other tips.
Manchester United suffered a second defeat on the trot in the Premier League last weekend in the Manchester derby, losing 3-1 away from home at their ‘noisy neighbours' Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium while Everton's worrying winless run in the English top flight was extended to 10 games overall after being handed a heavy 3-1 loss at home to West Ham which has left Everton sitting in 16th place in the table and just five points above third from bottom club Luton Town.
As for Manchester United, the Red Devils now find themselves six points adrift of the last of the European spots and fifth placed Tottenham ahead of this weekend's action in the Premier League but although the hosts have been dealt losses by Fulham and Manchester City, Erik ten Hag's side will at least feel confident that they can return to winning ways in this Saturday's lunchtime clash against strugglers, Everton.
The hosts had previously strung together an impressive four-match winning streak in the domestic top flight courtesy of wins against the likes of Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa and Luton Town respectively, but this proves that United are capable of producing much better performances than those of recent times.
That said, Manchester United must produce greater consistency at Old Trafford between now and the end of the season if they are to have any chance of securing a European spot.
Everton continue to hover just above the relegation zone in the Premier League table and the fact that The Toffees are not in the bottom three is largely thanks to the reduction of their initial 10-point penalty reduced down to just six points recently, rather than any sort of fightback staged by the merseyside club.
Indeed, Everton's last 10 games have been divided equally amongst draws and defeats and although Sean Dyche's side have managed to pick up important points by way of stalemates with Aston Villa, Fulham, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Brighton, the five defeats have overshadowed Everton's minimal successes.
Three of Everton's five defeats have been inflicted upon The Toffees on their travels in recent weeks as the merseyside club have slipped up at Tottenham, Wolves and Manchester City, each of whom occupy places in the top half of the Premier League table.
Results away from home have also seen a decline in fortunes for Everton as the visitors have failed to win any of their last five outings on the road while the bigger picture shows Sean Dyche's side have managed to record just six wins from their last 28 games on the road which is a rather poor record indeed.
Manchester United v Everton Verdict
Manchester United have won each of the last four meetings against Everton and the hosts look the more likely to take the spoils in this clash as well.
Therefore, our main bet will be Manchester Utd win @ 1.83
Other side bets worth considering:
Manchester Utd win @ 5.00
Correct Score: Manchester Utd 1-0 @ 9.50
