Manchester United vs Crystal Palace Preview

Manchester United will be seeking to collect back-to-back wins in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford after recording a narrow 1-0 win away from home at Burnley last weekend while Crystal Palace will be looking to halt their slide down the Premier League table with a win as well.

After having suffered back-to-back defeats against Arsenal and Brighton, which were both by 3-1 margins, Manchester United successfully avoided a third league defeat on the trot last weekend when they registered a 1-0 win at lowly Burnley and the Red Devils will now fancy their chances of a second win on the trot against an inconsistent Crystal Palace outfit.

It's been a very disappointing start to this new Premier League season by Manchester United's lofty standards as the hosts have now moved up into ninth place in the English top flight standings following three wins and three defeats but the bigger picture suggests United stand a decent chance of at least grabbing another three points in this upcoming tussle.

Erik ten Hag's side have won seven out of their last 10 league matches with two of these three defeats being away from home and at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have won eight of their last nine home games.

Crystal Palace were held to a 0-0 draw at home with Fulham last Saturday which followed a poor 3-1 loss away from home at Aston Villa and although The Eagles have registered two wins so far in this season's campaign, these were against struggling clubs such as newly promoted Sheffield United and this season's 16th placed side, Wolves.

Nevertheless, Palace should at least avoid being dragged down into an early relegation battle as the London club are capable of picking up points such as their recent 1-1 draw away at Brentford and despite a loss to London rivals, Arsenal, Roy Hodgson's side know they are capable of picking up points against teams around or below them in the Premier League table.

Results away from home though have been a different matter as The Eagles have managed to capture just three wins from their previous 14 outings on the road which also includes being handed eight defeats in the process.

Manchester United have hardly been convincing so far in these early stages of this new Premier League campaign but results on home soil at Old Trafford speak for themselves as United have lost just once in their previous 21 home games, picking up no fewer than 17 wins in the process.

United therefore look a very decent prospect ahead of this upcoming clash with Crystal Palace.
