Manchester United will be seeking to collect a third league win on the trot in the Premier League on Thursday night when they welcome an out-of-sorts Chelsea outfit to Old Trafford as the hosts look to confirm a top four finish in the English top flight and a place in next season's Champions League.

Although Manchester United slipped to two defeats on the trot recently, losing to Brighton and West Ham, it's worth noting that both of these losses happened away from home and these have been United's only slip-ups in their last nine matches overall.

Within this nine-game period, United have picked up no fewer than six wins in the process with four of these being recorded on home soil at Old Trafford, recording victories over Brentford, Everton, Aston Villa and Wolves, and indeed, Old Trafford has become something of a fortress again for the Red Devils.

Chelsea dropped down into an unprecedented 14th place in the Premier League table following a 1-0 defeat away from home at Manchester City on Sunday as things turn from bad to worse for The Blues as the visitors have managed to claim just one win from their last 10 matches overall.

That rare win came in the shape of a 3-1 win away from home at Bournemouth but six defeats within this period have seen Chelsea steadily slide down the Premier League table to an unacceptable 14th place with caretaker manager, Frank Lampard, still in charge until the end of the season.

Results away from home have inevitably also suffered as Chelsea have registered just two wins on their travels in their last 13 outings on the road in the English top flight which certainly doesn't bode well for a visit to Old Trafford which has once again become a fortress for Erik ten Hag's side.

To make matters worse, Chelsea have conceded in each of their last seven games and they will be up against the tightest defence in the Premier League on Thursday night.

All of the current statistics point towards a Manchester United win on Thursday and this certainly looks to be on the cards given not only Chelsea's poor results away from home this season but also their inability to keep clean sheets, so this should be a straightforward win for the Red Devils.
