Crystal Palace will be relieved to be returning to their home surroundings of Selhurst Park for this all-London affair against West Ham following their opening day of the season 2-1 defeat away from home at Brentford, while West Ham also slipped to an opening loss in the new Premier League season last weekend when they were handed a 2-1 loss at home by last season's fourth placed finishers, Aston Villa.

Despite their pretty ordinary sequence of results towards the end of last season's campaign though, West Ham still managed to achieve a creditable ninth place finish in the Premier League table where they finished three points above their upcoming hosts on Saturday afternoon, Crystal Palace.

However, results away from home have also been pretty unreliable where West Ham have been concerned as The Hammers have managed to capture just five wins from their last 16 outings on the road in the domestic top flight while also being dealt a total of 10 defeats within this period as well.
