Brighton vs Bournemouth Preview

Brighton will entertain lowly Bournemouth in Sunday's clash at the AMEX Stadium with the hosts going in search of a third consecutive league win in the Premier League while Bournemouth will just be looking to pick up their first win of this new English top flight season.

Brighton have made a promising start to this new season as The Seagulls have collected four wins from their opening five games of the new campaign which has helped lift Roberto de Zerbi's side into an early fifth place position in the Premier League table and no doubt the hosts will be looking for more of the same on Sunday afternoon.

Wins against Luton Town, Wolves, Newcastle United and Manchester United, the latter being a particularly notable 3-1 win at Old Trafford will give Brighton plenty of confidence ahead of this weekend's action while the bigger picture shows Brighton have lost just four of their last 13 matches overall in the domestic top flight.

In addition, Brighton have lost just twice in their last 11 home games at the AMEX Stadium but although The Seagulls have been enjoying recent free-scoring form, the previous two meetings with Bournemouth have both resulted in low-scoring affairs.

Bournemouth occupy a place in the lower half of the Premier League table as The Cherries sit in 15th place and just two points above the relegation zone prior to this tough looking trip along the south coast to take on an in-form Brighton outfit who are fresh from recording a 3-1 win at Old Trafford.

Bournemouth have yet to register their first win of this new Premier League season but the visitors will be hoping they can catch Brighton cold on Sunday afternoon as The Seagulls will have been in European action in midweek.

Despite being handed defeats by the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham, The Cherries have managed to pick up some useful points by way of draws with West Ham, Brentford and most notably, a 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea, which have helped keep the visitors' heads above water so far.

Three of Bournemouth's five league matches to date have resulted in Under 3.5 goals, while the overall picture shows the visitors have been involved in games producing Under 3.5 goals in six of their last nine matches.

Brighton have never played in European competition before so it'll be interesting to see how much it takes out of the players in their midweek clash against Greek outfit, AEK Athens, and Bournemouth will be hoping they can keep things tight and frustrate their hosts with a view to perhaps achieving another draw or even nicking a narrow win in what is expected to be a low-scoring encounter.
