Here is our Brentford v Tottenham tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to not score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a Tottenham away win. Our confidence in this tip was high relative to other tips.
Sunday afternoon brings us an all-London clash between Brentford and Tottenham with both clubs having moved to new purpose-built stadiums in recent seasons and both now looking to recoup some of their extensive financial outlays by securing a place in Europe for next season.
Brentford continue to defy the odds by making smart business decisions along with shrewd activity in the transfer market and The Bees broke through the top half of the Premier League last season under manager, Thomas Frank, as the hosts finished in ninth place on the English top flight ladder where they found themselves just two points adrift of seventh-placed Aston Villa and a Europa Conference spot.
More of the same is surely expected of Brentford and Thomas Frank as The Bees seek a European spot this term and having finished the last campaign in promising fashion by winning five of their final six games of the term, Brentford will be keen to produce a positive start to this new season on Sunday.
Victories against Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Tottenham (3-1 away) and most impressive of all, a 1-0 home win against Manchester City, appear to bode well for this season opener with Tottenham at their Gtech Community Stadium.
Tottenham will head into this new Premier League season with another new manager in the north London club's hot-seat as Australian coach, Ange Postecoglou, has relieved last season's caretaker-manager, Ryan Mason, at the helm no doubt looking to revive the flagging fortunes of this former ‘Big Six' club.
Postecoglou's most important priority even before a ball is kicked in anger is to retain the services of star striker, Harry Kane, as German Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, continue their relentless pursuit of England's spearhead but at the time of writing, Kane remains on the Tottenham payroll.
The second priority for the new Spurs manager will be to shore up a leaky defensive unit which contributed to the visitors picking up just two wins out of their final eight matches of the season, losing five of these games in the process.
In addition, Tottenham capitulated towards the end of last season on the road as well, with Spurs winning just once in their last eight outings on their travels which came in the form of a 4-1 victory that relegated Leeds United, but slipping to five defeats as well.
Brentford v Tottenham Verdict
With this being the first game of the top flight season it seems unlikely that we'll be treated to a goal-fest especially as Postecoglou will be keen to tighten up the Spurs defence after last season's generous defending.
A low-scoring game may well unfold at the Gtech Community Stadium here on Sunday.
Therefore, our main bet will be Under 2.5 goals @ 2.10
Other side bets worth considering:
Tottenham win @ 2.37
Correct score: Tottenham 2-0 @ 15.00
