Brentford not only suffered a third league defeat on the trot on Monday night in the Premier League when they lost 4-2 away from home at West Ham but this result also became a 10th defeat in 12 games for The Bees, while Chelsea were dealt a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in extra-time against Liverpool in the final of the League Cup over the weekend but recent results in the top flight have nevertheless been fairly encouraging.

Brentford have managed to collect just three wins from their previous 15 matches in the English top flight and having been dealt no fewer than 12 defeats in this period, this poor sequence of results have plunged The Bees nearer the relegation zone where the hosts now occupy a disappointing 16th place in the table and hold a five-point cushion over third from bottom club, Luton Town.

The three rare victories were gained by the way of wins against Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and Wolves and although the majority of their defeats were inflicted upon Brentford away from home, five defeats on home soil to the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Wolves, Manchester City and Liverpool have still done a fair amount of damage to Thomas Frank's side.

Wins against Aston Villa 3-1 away from home in the FA Cup along with a 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace in the Premier League while also holding high-flying Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium will give Chelsea belief and confidence that they can grab another three points against a struggling Brentford outfit on Saturday afternoon.

Recent results seem to have taken a turn for the better where Chelsea have been concerned as The Blues have suffered just two defeats within their last seven games overall in the Premier League which came in the form of losses at the hands of Liverpool and Wolves but having also collected wins against Crystal Palace, Luton Town, Fulham and Crystal Palace again, the visitors will feel they stand a decent chance of getting something from this trip to the Gtech Community Stadium.

Incidentally, five of Chelsea's last seven games have also produced three goals or more.
