With just two points separating Bournemouth and Chelsea along with just one league win between the two clubs to date in this season's Premier League campaign, this upcoming clash down on the south coast at the Vitality Stadium looks like being a tightly fought contest between two clubs that are very much out of sorts in the early stages of this top flight season.

Bournemouth have still yet to record their first league win of this Premier League season as The Cherries have struggled to shake off their dismal finish to the end of last season's campaign and into this new term; the hosts have drawn twice and lost twice, while the bigger picture now shows that Bournemouth have now failed to win any of their last eight matches overall.

Six defeats within these last eight matches suggest this upcoming clash with Chelsea is expected to be another tough day at the office for The Cherries who showed former manager, Gary O'Neil, the door despite guiding Bournemouth to top flight safety last term, and within these six losses was a 3-1 defeat at home to Chelsea back in early May.

Results at the Vitality Stadium have been pretty ordinary as well, as Bournemouth have managed to record just three wins from their last 13 home games whilst being handed seven defeats as well.

Chelsea have only fared marginally better though than Bournemouth as The Blues have registered just one win to date in the first four matches of their campaign, that being a 3-0 home win against newly promoted Luton Town.

An opening day 1-1 draw at home with Liverpool got Chelsea off to a reasonable start but either side of the win against The Hatters, Mauricio Pochettino's side have been handed defeats by West Ham and Nottingham Forest, the latter being inflicted upon The Blues at Stamford Bridge just before the international break.

League wins have been in short supply though for the London club as Chelsea have scraped together just two victories from their previous 16 matches which quite frankly is an absolute disgrace considering the substantial financial outlay that owner Todd Boehly has invested in the transfer market for little or no return at all so far.

However, the glimmer of hope for Chelsea fans is that one of these rare wins was a comprehensive 3-1 win away from home at Bournemouth last season and the visitors will be hoping they can repeat this result here on Sunday afternoon.
