Tamworth were handed a second defeat on the trot in the National League on the weekend after losing 3-2 away from home at Halifax, while Gateshead collected a third league win on the trot on Saturday with a 1-0 home win against Wealdstone which has helped the north-east club up into fourth place in the National League standings.

Tamworth had previously recorded three league wins on the trot in the non-league top flight with victories gained over Maidenhead United, Braintree Town and AFC Fylde but subsequent defeats at the hands of Altrincham and the aforementioned Halifax have resulted in Tamworth dropping down the table to 19th place.

Indeed, the west midlands club are now just two league places and two points above the early relegation zone in the National League table, while the bigger picture shows Tamworth have managed to capture just four wins within their previous 13 games overall.
