The lowest placed side in the Football League, Doncaster Rovers, will play host to Premier League visitors, Everton, at their Eco-Power Stadium on Wednesday night with the hosts looking to cause one of the biggest upsets in recent times in this season's EFL Cup.

Doncaster Rovers are firmly rooted to the bottom spot in League Two, sitting in 24th place in the table and having managed to pick up just one point from their opening five games of this new season to date, the hosts look to be up against it here on Wednesday night.

Everton had previously enjoyed a solid and successful pre-season campaign under relatively new manager, Sean Dyche, as his side were unbeaten during the five warm-up games which included four wins and a draw but having suffered defeats in their opening three games of the new top flight season, this upcoming 2nd round clash in the League Cup may have greater significance attached to it now.

Therefore, Sean Dyche will be urging his players to make sure of the win here on Wednesday night and although the EFL Cup doesn't usually seem to warrant much attention from top flight managers, this upcoming tie with Doncaster Rovers has become much more important.

One thing in Everton's favour is that they managed to turn their form around on the road towards the end of last season's Premier League campaign having picked up three draws and a win in their final four outings on the road, three of which also resulted in both teams scoring.
