Middlesbrough's three-match winning streak came to an end on Wednesday night when Boro were dealt a surprising 1-0 defeat home to Blackburn Rovers but the hosts have another chance to redeem themselves here at their Riverside Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

Hull City also suffered defeat on Tuesday night when The Tigers slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday which also became a sixth loss in nine games for Saturday lunchtime's visitors.

Middlesbrough had previously racked up three wins on the trot in the Championship by virtue of victories gained over QPR, Luton Town and Oxford United respectively, which in turn have helped Michael Carrick's side up into sixth place and into the play-off pack.

Hull City's problems in this season's Championship campaign continued on Tuesday night when The Tigers were dealt another disappointing defeat, this time in the form of a 2-0 loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

That result now makes it six defeats within a nine-game winless run for Tim Walter's side who have now dropped down into the bottom three places in the Championship table and therefore amongst the relegation zone ahead of this tough looking trip to take on Middlesbrough on Saturday lunchtime.

Hull City had previously produced a promising start to this season's Championship campaign as The Tigers had slipped to just two defeats within their opening eight games whilst picking up three wins in the shape of victories over Stoke City, Cardiff City and QPR respectively.
