Luton Town will be relieved to be returning to the more familiar surroundings of their Kenilworth Road ground for Friday night's encounter against Derby County in the Championship after being handed a 2-0 defeat away from home at high-flying Blackburn Rovers last Saturday.

Derby County returned to winning ways in the Championship last weekend with an emphatic 4-0 thrashing at home against Portsmouth which has lifted The Rams up into 14th place in the Championship table and the east midlands club will be hoping for more of the same on Friday night.

Luton Town have achieved a smattering of wins so far in this season's Championship campaign as The Hatters have picked up six wins to date within their total of 21 league matches played so far this term, five of which have been captured on home soil at Kenilworth Road.

Although results away from home have been disastrous, winning just once in their 10 away games to date, Luton Town do at least stand a chance of getting something out of this Friday night encounter as Rob Edwards's side have lost just three games whilst collecting five wins along with being unbeaten in their last five games as well.

Derby County ended a rather barren looking spell of six games without a win in the English second tier last weekend with the aforementioned rousing 4-0 home win against Portsmouth but the bigger picture still suggests The Rams may struggle here on Friday night.

Indeed, Derby County have managed to capture just three wins from their last 16 matches overall in the Championship, two of which were registered on home soil at Pride Park whilst also being handed seven defeats as well.

Derby County's singular success on their travels of late came in the form of a 2-1 win away from home at Coventry City but this has been Derby's only real highlight so far on their travels upon their return to the Championship.

The Rams have really struggled away from home for some time now at this level as Paul Warne's side have registered just two wins from their previous 22 outings on the road, slipping to no fewer than 15 defeats within this period as well.

To make matters worse, Derby County have managed to keep just two clean sheets within their previous 22 away games in the Championship and this does not appear to bode well for this upcoming trip to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town.

Luton Town have won each of their previous three meetings at home against Derby County and the hosts look to be well equipped to gain another three points at The Rams' expense here on Friday night.
