Here is our Coventry v Plymouth tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to not score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a Coventry home win. Our confidence in this tip was low relative to other tips.
Coventry City return to the familiar surroundings of their Coventry Building Society Arena for Tuesday night's encounter against Plymouth Argyle with renewed confidence and belief after recording a welcome 3-0 win away from home at free-falling Millwall outfit at The Den on Saturday afternoon, while Plymouth Argyle also registered a useful three points by way of recording a solid 2-0 home win against Sunderland.
Saturday's desperately needed three points for the Sky Blues ended a previously worrying and disappointing six-match winless run in the Championship which consisted of four defeats and just two draws which included losses incurred against the likes of Bristol City, Rotherham United, West Brom and Preston NE respectively, and although Coventry picked up points in draws with Norwich City and Stoke City, these were not enough for the hosts.
However, although results overall have been largely disappointing for Mark Robins' side who had narrowly lost out in last season's play-off final, the Sky Blues have still only suffered just the one defeat in their eight home games to date this season.
Wins against Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers should give Coventry City belief they can take the spoils in this clash.
Plymouth Argyle also grabbed the all-important three points on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 home win against Sunderland which ended a three-match winless run in the Championship for the west country outfit who had previously slipped to losses against Ipswich Town and Leeds United respectively, both of which were inflicted upon The Pilgrims on their travels.
The bigger picture though doesn't fill Plymouth's chances of securing a result in the west midlands on Tuesday night with much confidence as the visitors have managed to capture just two wins from their last nine matches, or just three victories from their previous 12 games overall.
Interestingly, each of these three wins for Plymouth have also been achieved on home soil at Home Park but there's been very little in the way of home comforts for Plymouth on the road as the visitors have failed to win any of their last 10 outings on their travels and this does not bode well for this upcoming trip to the Coventry Building Society Arena.
In addition, Plymouth have managed to keep just two clean sheets in their last 11 away games and this statistic could work against The Pilgrims on Tuesday night.
Coventry City v Plymouth Argyle Verdict
Coventry City have held the upper hand over Plymouth Argyle in previous recent meetings against their visitors on home soil as the Sky Blues are unbeaten in their last three clashes at home along with winning two of these three games as well.
Coventry still remain tough to beat at home under manager, Mark Robins, and the hosts once again look to hold the edge over Plymouth here.
Therefore, our main bet will be Coventry City win @ 1.72
Other side bets worth considering:
Coventry City win & Under 2.5 goals @ 4.75
Correct Score: Coventry City @ 8.50
