Cardiff City recorded an excellent 1-0 win away from home at high-flying Sheffield United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup over the weekend and The Bluebirds will now return to Championship action on Tuesday night at their Cardiff City Stadium looking to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to five games overall.

Watford however did not enjoy the distraction of the FA Cup this weekend as The Hornets were dealt a heavy 4-1 loss down by the Thames at Craven Cottage as Fulham ran riot over the Championship outfit who now face a tricky outing to Wales in midweek,

Cardiff City have recently picked up five points from their last three games in the English second tier thanks to a 2-1 win away from home at Tuesday night's opponents Watford at Vicarage Road just before the end of the year while the Welsh hosts have picked up further points by way of draws with Coventry City and Middlesbrough as well.

The Bluebirds have managed to register just one win from their previous 12 attempts in the Championship which was the win at Watford but as the hosts have also slipped to six defeats within this rather barren period as well, the prospects of backing a home win here does seem a little risky.

However, goals at both ends of the pitch on Tuesday night look promising as seven out of Cardiff City's last 10 league matches overall have resulted in both teams hitting the back of the net.

Watford will be desperate to not only produce a vastly improved performance than that over the weekend in the 3rd round of the FA Cup following their 4-1 mauling at the hands of Fulham, but also to end a three-match losing streak in the Championship as well.

Recent losses in the English second tier at the hands of Cardiff City 2-1, QPR 3-1 and Sheffield United 2-1 respectively have Tom Cleverley's side on notice, especially as The Hornets have now dropped down to ninth place in the Championship table as a result of these recent defeats.

The visitors will be eyeing off a potential return to winning ways though on Tuesday night against a struggling Cardiff City outfit who find themselves in the relegation zone of the Championship table, sitting second from bottom.

However, Watford have stumbled to four defeats within their last five games overall which throws a lot of doubt over whether The Hornets can turn things around and pick up all three points here at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night.
