Burnley took the honours and the spoils of victory in their recent Lancashire derby against fierce rivals Blackburn Rovers after securing a 1-0 win away from home at Ewood Park which in turn extended Burnley's unbeaten run in the Championship to a solid and impressive looking 13 games overall.

Sunderland also won a low-scoring affair last time out in the Championship when the Black Cats registered a 1-0 home win against Portsmouth to make it back-to-back wins for the north-east club, having previously collected all three points by way of an impressive 2-1 home win against Sheffield United.

Burnley currently occupy second place in the Championship table and just a single point separates them from the league leaders, Leeds United, ahead of this weekend's action in the English second tier.

The hosts therefore know all three points here on Friday night at Turf Moor would send The Clarets to the top of the table and see Scott Parker's side steal a march on their promotion rivals, and having picked up eight wins within these last 13 games, the hosts look in good shape to do just that.
