Peru opened their account with a solid point in Group A when they held Chile to a 0-0 draw at the AT&T Stadium which also extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to six games, while Canada were dealt a blow in their Copa America campaign following an understandable 2-0 loss to the current World cup holders, Argentina, in their opening game of the group stage.

Peru have claimed three wins and three draws within their last six games in all competitions which consist of picking up victories against the likes of Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and El Salvador along with being involved in three draws with Venezuela, Paraguay and Chile respectively.

However, positive results have not always been the case for Jorge Fossati's side as La Bicolor have produced a disastrous World Cup qualifying campaign to date in the CONMEBOL section as they have failed to win any of their opening six games.

Indeed, Peru have captured just two points from the possible 18 on offer so far thanks to draws with Paraguay and Venezuela, while also been handed four defeats within this opening six-game sequence as well.

Defeats at the hands of Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia suggest it may be best to avoid the straight win markets where Peru are concerned but having scored in five of their last seven games in the Copa America, Fossati's side should at least hit the back of the net against Canada.

Onto Canada, and they were dealt the worst possible fixture in this Copa America tournament as they faced the current World Cup winners, Argentina, in their opening game of Group A and they duly lost 2-0 which now places Jesse Marsch's side in early trouble ahead of this upcoming encounter at the Children's Mercy Park.

This Copa America tournament is anticipated to provide Canada with invaluable tournament experience prior to co-hosting the 2026 World Cup but recent results have not been entirely convincing as Canada have managed to capture just three wins in their previous 12 internationals in all competitions.

Wins against Cuba (Gold Cup), Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago (CONCACAF Nations League) have been all very well and good but Marsch's side have also slipped to six defeats within this period as well, meaning this upcoming clash with Peru holds no guarantees of success for Canada.

This is Canada's first ever appearance in the Copa America and they will be desperate to make amends for their opening loss when they take on a Peru outfit whom they'll be hoping to beat to get their first points on the board.
