In the other semi-final of this year's Gold Cup, the later kick-off will feature this upcoming clash between Jamaica and Mexico with both nations coming off wins in the quarter-finals which sealed their places in the final four nations of the competition.

Jamaica secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the dark horses, Guatemala, in their quarter-final tie which also became the Reggae Boyz' third win on the trot in this year's Gold Cup after recording earlier wins against Trinidad & Tobago 4-1 and inflicting a 5-0 thrashing upon the hapless St Kitts & Nevis during the group stage.

Despite these impressive landslide wins against the aforementioned Caribbean teams along with a creditable 1-1 draw with USA in their group opener, Jamaica had to settle for the runners-up spot in Group A behind the joint-hosts, USA, on goal difference.

These recent wins will have certainly been a welcome boost for Jamaica though as they had had to endure a rather lean period of 11 matches without a win in all competitions beforehand and the jury may well be out as to whether they can match the might of Mexico in this semi-final tie at Allegiant Stadium.

Onto Mexico and they too recorded a win in the previous quarter-final clash with Costa Rica as the Tricolour ran out 2-0 winners which would also have been a relief for Mexico having been dealt a shock 1-0 defeat to Qatar in their final game of the group stage.

In truth, this unexpected defeat had no real consequence as Mexico had already qualified for the knockout stage of this year's Gold Cup tournament thanks to previous wins against Honduras 4-0 and Haiti 3-1 and they'll be keen to continue their winning run against Jamaica in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

The bigger picture shows Mexico have lost just twice in their previous 12 games in all competitions and having collected seven wins during this period as well, Mexico look a tough unit to stop here with their sights set on a place in the final of this competition.

Jamaica have performed reasonably well in previous Gold Cups and their solid results are underlined by the fact that they've lost just four of their previous 19 games at this level, so Heimir Hallgrimsson's side will be quietly confident that they can spring an upset here.

Mexico are second only to USA in terms of lifting the Gold Cup trophy and although they suffered that recent defeat to Qatar, this was seemingly just a blip as they look to progress through to the final here this Wednesday.
