Onto the Gold Cup and it's the final round of games in the group phase of this competition this week and it's a case of ‘now or never' for Canada as they prepare for this final fixture in Group D against Cuba who sit bottom of the group and who have yet to register a point.

Canada themselves occupy third place and find themselves two points adrift of the top two nations in the group, Guadeloupe and Guatemala, prior to this final match so John Herdman's side know they must take all three points against Cuba along with boosting their goal difference in order to stand a chance of progressing through to the knockout round of the competition.

There is a danger that Guadeloupe and Guatemala play out a draw in the other game in Group D, in which case if Canada do win here, then goal difference would come into play and having lost just once in their last six matches overall, Canada will fancy their chances here.

Canada have also seemingly done the hard work by holding Guadeloupe and Guatemala to 2-2 and 0-0 draws respectively and having previously picked up wins against Curacao, Honduras and Panama in the Nations League, Canada should be in the driving seat in this upcoming clash.

Cuba sit rock bottom of Group D with zero points to their name following back-to-back defeats to Guatemala and Guadeloupe and they now face arguably their toughest test yet in the shape of Canada in this final fixture of the group phase.

1-0 and 4-1 defeats respectively have ben enough to dash any outside hopes or dreams that Cuba may have had in terms of achieving a top two finish in the group and they now only have pride to play for as they will bow out of the Gold Cup after playing Canada on Tuesday night.

Despite putting together a seven-match unbeaten sequence prior to June this year, Cuba were then handed defeats by Chile 3-0 and Uruguay 2-0 just before the commencement of the Gold Cup which didn't do Pablo Sanchez's side any favours in the confidence department.

Canada have made a bit of a slow and sluggish start to this group phase but they now have a golden opportunity to grab a welcome three points and hope that the other game between Guadeloupe and Guatemala ends in a straight win for one of the sides.
