Juventude vs Sao Paulo Preview

This upcoming fixture between 12th placed Juventude and fourth placed Sao Paulo features two sides who are looking to further their claims for a place in the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores respectively; Juventude head into this clash on the back of a 1-1 draw at home Atletico Mineiro, while Sao Paulo registered a 1-0 home win against Gremio in midweek.

Juventude currently occupy the last of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the Brazilian Serie A table as they sit in 12th place and although the hosts have produced a mixed bag of results throughout this season's campaign to date, Jair Ventura's side have also picked up some important wins in recent weeks as well.

Sao Paulo occupy fourth place in the Brazilian top flight table and therefore the last of the Copa Libertadores places but the visitors are level on points with fifth placed Bahia and only hold a slender one-point lead over Cruzeiro and Fortaleza, so Luis Zubeldia's side know they cannot afford another slip-up here.

The bigger picture though should provide Sao Paulo with a welcome boost ahead of this trip as the visitors have suffered just three defeats within their last 15 league matches which also includes picking up nine wins in the process although results away from home have been a little sketchy.

Indeed, Sao Paulo have managed to capture just four wins in their last 27 outings on the road which does not make for great reading if you are a Sao Paulo fan!
