Draw Tips
Draw betting is not as popular as it used to be. Historically draws were popular when people used to play the football pools, where predicting draws could win you the jackpot. These days the draw bet is less favoured, but still important.
Draws can make up 40%+ of all results in some leagues. It's important to remember this stat when placing your bets and look at how many games teams draw, because it's human nature for punters to try pick a winner and not consider the draw.
All of our draw tips shown on this page are either 0-0, 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3. We tend to not predict higher scoring draws as they are so rare and unpredictable.
How To Spot A Good Draw Bet
It might be hard to believe, but around 7% of games end 0-0. No one bets on 0-0s, right?
Take a look at our England Premier League scores page. Our most common scorelines page covers more than 140 leagues and will provide you with stats on which scorelines are the most popular for each league this season.
Quite often the 1-1 scoreline is the most popular scoreline in a league, often making up 10% or more of all results.
Some teams sometimes appear to be draw specialists, and there's sometimes good reason to believe that this trend isn't by chance. Teams that set up their tactics (especially against the big teams or when they play away from home) to play a tight formation that is hard to break down, might be teams to look at for draw betting.
That said, some teams barely draw at all in a season, again perhaps due to their tactics.
Other things to look for when spotting good draw candidates are when teams who are close to each other in the league play each other. When there's a lot at stake in terms of relegation, promotion, or the title race, teams tend to set up their tactics to neutralise games and at least share the points.
Local derby games also tend to generate draws due to the competitiveness of these games. It's always worth looking through two teams' head to head records over previous seasons to see how competitive a particular match up has been.
