How To Create An Acca?

How Are Acca Tips Put Together?

Our acca tips are carefully selected from our database of football stats. Our team seeks out the best accas we can think of on a daily basis. Where we don't see much value in a set of fixtures on a given day, we won't tip an accumulator, instead focusing on where we think there's value in an acca.

Accumulator Selections

How Many Selections Should Go Into An Accumulator?

There is no ideal size for an accumulator and no ideal number of selections. It all comes down to individual preference. Obviously, the more selections you put into an accumulator, the more likely the odds will be higher, and theoretically the lower the probability of the accumulator winning. However, whether you prefer to build 10-fold accas, or just simple trebles, the choice is yours. Larger accumulators do not necessarily give you any less value than smaller accumulators.

Acca Value?

Are Football Accas Worth It?

Accumulator bets are certainly very popular amongst punters due to the combined odds they provide and potential to win big compared to individual single bets. Are they worth it and do acca bets provide value? Well, yes and no - accas are simply made up of the combined odds of each selection. You could, theoretically bet on each game in an accumulator one-by-one (if each game kicked off and ended before the next started, for example over a weekend) and get the same odds as backing an accumulator up front. That said, games that run concurrently can only be combined up front in an accumulator.

Accumulator bets may encourage punters to take more risk, in that people may take more risks when chasing bigger odds, or betting on markets and outcomes that they would not normally place a single bet on. A good example of this is the bet builder functionality that many bookmakers now offer. Punters are now placing bets on a wider range of markets, such as the number of cards in a half of the game - markets that a few years ago would have had very few bets placed on them.

Early Game?

Should I Include The Early Kickoff In An Acca?

Some punters are very superstitious about including an early game in an acca and prefer instead to place an accumulator on games that all kick off at the same time. There is no real monetary benefit to backing games in an accumulator that all kick off at the same time, versus backing games across a day or weekend. Backing an accumulator with games that all kick off at the same time may provide more excitement if your accumulator is winning, and some might argue that it does provide you better cash out values if all your selections are winning at the same time. Conversely it could be argued that putting selections in an acca that kick off at different times gives the punter the time to think about cashing out in between kick off times. The main reason that punters don't like including an early game in an acca is because if that selection loses then the accumulator has already lost before other selections kick off.

Top Tips For Putting Together Winning Accas

Like with any bet, there's an associated risk, probability and chance that things may not go your way, but here are some things you might want to consider in creating your accumulators

1. Do Your Reasearch - Try not to build your accas by looking at the odds. Starting with the odds in mind can sometimes be misleading. Odds effectively represent what a bookmaker thinks the outcome will be, and represent a spread of values that the bookmaker has priced to try make a profit on that market. Odds can also represent what other people are betting on - the more bets placed on a selection, the more chance those odds have of decreasing as the bookmaker prices in this risk. In our opinion it's best to do your research and study the statistics alongside the odds. WinDrawWin has an extensive football stats section to help you with this.

2. Be Ready To Cash Out - Most bookmakers now offer cash out as standard. When placing an accumulator bet, be ready to cash out. Some things you might want to consider include - when is the right time to cash out? When during in-play will you consider making a decision to cash out? You might be able to determine this from cash out value you have seen in the past. For example, you might make a decision to consider cashing out at half-time if your acca is winning. You might consider cashing out if your return equals or exceeds 100% of your stake. Are you going to cash out at 80 minutes if all your bets are winning, or are you going to let your bets run until final whistle? If you have an idea of what decisions you want to make beforehand then this removes any need for quick decision making in-play. You might also consider what time you have to consider cash out between games in your accumulator. If your selections are spread across games that kick off at different times during the weekend then you might have time in between games to cash out if you feel that's right for you.

3. Bet With Your Head, Not Your Heart - Some punters have a golden rule that they don't bet on the team they support. There is some logic to this. Betting on your own team may be based on immotive choices and not logic. It also means that if your team loses it doesn't also ruin your acca too!

4. Season-Long Accas - Whilst betting on season-long accumulators, like league winner accas, might be tempting, consider that if you do this your stake will be tied up for several months until each market is settled.

Accumulator Calculator

How To Calculate Accumulator Odds?

If you are using decimal odds, which most people do, calculating your accumulator odds is simple. Simply multiply the odds for each selection together. The order in which you multiply the odds does not matter. For example, if you are doing a treble on selections with odds of 2.00, 3.50 and 4.50 then the odds on this treble will be 2.00 x 3.50 x 4.50, which equals 31.5. All bookmaker bet slips will calculate your accumulator odds for you, as does our on site bet slip at WinDrawWin.
