What Is Bet Builder? and How Does Bet Builder Work?

Bet builder is a feature now offered by most top bookmakers. Bet builder is a function that allows the bettor to choose from a range of diverse markets, on the same game, or across multiple games, and get a price for a selected combination of bets.

Bet builders are effectively the same as multiples or accas, but have been rebranded as “Bet Builder” because most bookmakers now allow the customer to build multiple bets on a much wider range of markets, like players to be carded, the number of fouls committed, or the number of corners before half-time.

Bet builder is also slightly different from multiple bets because it allows the bettor to build bets on the same game that might not necessarily be allowed in traditional multiple or accumulator bets.

Some bets on the same game have a certain degree of crossover (in probability and likelihood), so might not be allowed in a traditional accumulator. For example, if betting on a player to receive a yellow card, and a team to be given over 2.5 yellow cards in a game, there’s a certain degree of crossover in these two bets – a card awarded to the player adds to the total cards in received by the team, therefore the bettor should not receive the combined odds of these two selections. Bet builder factors in this crossover and calculates odds appropriately.

Bet builders have become very popular with bettors, as they offer much more niche bets and appealing combinations. For example, rather than betting on a team to win a game or both teams to score, bettors now find betting on two players to have over 1.5 shots on target more appealing and interesting.

A lot of bet builders can also technically win before the full-time whistle. For example, a player to score or assist, plus another player to commit 2 or more fouls, and a goalkeeper to make 2 or more saves could technically win in the first 20 minutes of a game.

Bet builder at bet365 is available on most of the top games. Some bet builders are pre-defined and are shown against each game or on the home page, and some of these are boosted too.

However, if you want to build your own bet builder from scratch then go to the game you want to bet on and navigate to the “Bet Builder” section. You can then select your bets from a range of markets including player, result, goals, corners and cards, and build your bet. You can play around with your bet builder – adding and removing bets and seeing how this affects the odds on offer. Each time you add a new bet into the bet builder, your bet slip will show the updated bet builder price for all selections.

This is different from building a simple multiple or accumulator, in that you are building a bet where there is only one betting choice at the end – to back the entire bet builder bet, whereas multiple bets let you build an accumulator and then select from a range of bets from singles all the way up to backing the accumulator.

Does Extra-Time Count In Bet Builders?

Unless stated in the betting selection, extra-time does not generally count towards bet builder bets. For example, a player to score first, or a player to be carded will usually only count in normal time (plus injury time).

In a cup tie where extra-time is eligible, bet builder markets will be specifically created for extra-time. However, extra-time markets are not usually available until a game finishes and extra-time is a certainty.
