Here is our New England v Chicago tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to not score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a Chicago away win. Our confidence in this pick was low relative to other picks.
New England Revolution were dealt another disappointing defeat in the MLS last weekend when the hosts suffered a 2-1 loss at home to FC Cincinnati but although The Revolution hold home advantage again for Saturday's clash against Chicago Fire, this may not be the case as New England have slipped to four defeats on the trot at the start of this season's campaign, while Chicago Fire registered an entertaining 4-3 home win against Montreal last weekend.
New England Revolution ended last season's campaign in losing fashion as the hosts slipped to two defeats on the trot at the hands of Philadelphia Union in home and away losses and the hosts have been unable to shrug off their losers tag so far this season as well.
The Revolution have been handed defeats by the likes of DC United, Toronto, Atlanta United and the aforementioned FC Cincinnati respectively and the prospects for the hosts do not look particularly promising for this upcoming clash with Chicago Fire either as the bigger picture indicates the hosts have managed to capture just two victories from their last 15 attempts in the MLS.
Both of these wins were achieved on home soil at Gillette Stadium with wins against Charlotte and Philadelphia Union but New England have also suffered no fewer than 10 defeats in the process as well.
After a disappointing start to this new MLS season, Chicago Fire chalked up their first league win of the new campaign with a 4-3 home win against Montreal as the visitors shrugged off a winless three-match start to this new term which included losses at the hands of FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew.
Chicago Fire had also picked up a point by way of a 2-2 draw away from home at Philadelphia Union but perhaps the jury still remains out as to whether Frank Klopas' side have turned a corner prior to this upcoming trip to face New England Revolution at the Gillette Stadium on Saturday.
Similar to their upcoming hosts, Chicago Fire had also slipped to back-to-back defeats at the end of last season's campaign as they were dealt defeats by Charlotte and New York City respectively although the visitors had previously tasted success in their two preceding games.
Previous wins against New York Red Bulls and Inter Miami (minus one Lionel Messi) suggest that the visitors might just be able to get the better of their early struggling hosts here in this encounter.
New England Revolution v Chicago Fire Verdict
Previous history between New England Revolution and Chicago Fire suggests this upcoming encounter may be a tightly fought one as each of the last five meetings have resulted in stalemates and goals could also be at a premium here as well.
Therefore, our main bet will be Under 2.5 goals @ 2.15
Other side bets worth considering:
Chicago Fire win @ 3.75
Correct Score: Chicago Fire 2-0 @ 21.00
