Montenegro vs Wales Preview

Montenegro were dealt a third defeat on the trot in all competitions in their opening game of League B Group 4 Nations League campaign as they slipped to a 2-0 loss away from home at Iceland, while Wales gained what could prove to be an important point in a 0-0 draw at home with Turkey in their opening game of the group stage.

Montenegro had previously slipped to losses at the hands of Belgium and Georgia in international friendlies and although the hosts have also captured earlier wins against the likes of Bulgaria, Lebanon, Lithuania, Belarus and North Macedonia respectively, these have been Montenegro's only highlights within their previous 14 matches across all competitions.

Within this period, Montenegro have also been handed seven defeats in the process as well, making the hosts fairly unreliable in backing them for a possible straight win here on Monday night at their Stadion Kraj Bistrice.

Wales held Turkey to a 0-0 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium in their opening game in League B/4 of this new UEFA Nations League campaign but although this point was a solid one, the fact remains that The Dragons have now failed to win any of their last four matches in all competitions.

Wales had previously narrowly missed out on a place in the recent Euro 2024 finals in Germany as they had been beaten by Poland in a penalty shoot-out in the Path A play-off final after the scores were level at 0-0 at the end of normal and extra-time.

The bigger picture shows Wales have been handed just two defeats though in their previous 11 games overall which were against Poland and Slovakia but the visitors have also collected wins against Latvia, Gibraltar, Croatia and Finland respectively but results on their travels have really held the Welsh back in recent times.

Indeed, the visitors have managed to capture just one win in their last 10 outings on the road, slipping to five defeats along the way but the goals market at least appeals here as six out of Wales' last 10 away games have also resulted in both teams scoring.
