Austria and Kazakhstan both find themselves playing catch-up with the top two nations in Group 3 as they sit third and fourth respectively having gained just one point apiece ahead of Thursday night's clash at the Raiffeisen Arena.

Austria began their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw away from home at Slovenia but a 2-1 loss away from home at Norway followed suit which means this upcoming clash with Kazakhstan takes on even greater meaning when the two sides prepare to face off on matchday 3.

Recent results have been fairly disappointing for Austria as the hosts have managed to pick up just two wins in their previous seven internationals which came in the form of victories against Poland and Netherlands in the recent Euro 2024 finals but defeats at the hands of France, Turkey and Norway respectively suggest this upcoming encounter could be a potentially tough assignment.

Recent results overall have been poor for Stanislav Cherchesov's side as Kazakhstan have failed to win any of their previous six internationals while slipping to five defeats in the process, so the visitors certainly look to have their work cut out when they make their way to the Raiffeisen Arena on Thursday night.

Losses at the hands of Greece, Luxembourg, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Slovenia suggest this upcoming trip to Austria could well be beyond Cherchesov's side's capabilities, especially as Kazakhstan have managed to capture just seven wins within their previous 20 internationals overall.

Within this disappointing period of results, Kazakhstan have slipped to 12 defeats while results away from home have also been similarly poor as the visitors have lost each of their last six outings on the trot on their travels along with picking up just three victories in their previous 14 games on the road.
