Germany's impressive and solid looking eight-match unbeaten sequence in all competitions was finally brought to an end by the eventual winners of the recent Euro 2024 finals, Spain, as La Roja overcame the Germans in extra-time winning 2-1, while Hungary failed to make it past the group stage of the competition as they finished as one of the worst third placed sides at the conclusion of the first phase of the tournament.

Hungary's hopes of joining host nation Germany into the knockout stage of the Euro 2024 finals were dashed as their eventual three-point haul over their three group games proved to be not enough to send The Magyars through.

Back-to-back losses in their first two games of Group A to Switzerland 3-1 and Germany 2-0 immediately put Hungary on the back foot and although they did manage to bounce back with a 1-0 victory over Scotland this proved to be a case of too little too late for Marco Rossi's side.

Hungary now have a chance to avenge their previous group defeat to Germany when they make their way to the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf on Saturday night and having lost just three of their last 19 internationals in all competitions, the visitors might just fancy their chances here.
