Tie betting is not as popular as it used to be. Historically ties were popular in countries like the United Kingdom when people used to play the football pools, where predicting ties could win you the jackpot. These days the tie bet is less favored, but still important.
Ties can make up 40%+ of all results in some leagues. It's important to remember this stat when wagering your bets and look at how many games teams tie, because it's human nature for sports bettors to try pick a winner and not consider the tie.

How To Spot A Good Tie Bet
It might be hard to believe, but around 7% of games end with no score. No one bets on 0-0s, right?

Quite often the 1-1 scoreline is the most popular scoreline in a league, often making up 10% or more of all results.
Some teams sometimes appear to be tie specialists, and there's sometimes good reason to believe that this trend isn't by chance. Teams that set up their tactics (especially against the big teams or when they play away from home) to play a tight formation that is hard to break down, might be teams to look at for tie betting.
That said, some teams barely tie at all in a season, again perhaps due to their tactics.
Other things to look for when spotting good tie candidates are when teams who are close to each other in the standings play each other. When there's a lot at stake in terms of relegation, promotion, or the title race, teams tend to set up their tactics to neutralise games and at least share the points.
Local rivalry games also tend to generate ties due to the competitiveness of these games. It's always worth looking through two teams' head to head records over previous seasons to see how competitive a particular game has been.
