Norrkoping vs Varnamo Preview

Norrkoping slipped to a 2-1 defeat away from home at Brommapojkarna in last week's action in the Swedish top flight which also became the hosts' third defeat in four games overall in the Allsvenskan while Varnamo also tasted defeat which came in the form of a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home to Kalmar.

Norrkoping had previously been dealt back-to-back losses at the hands of AIK 6-2 and Hammarby 2-1 and although they gained a point in a 1-1 draw away from home at Kalmar, the three defeats have more than outweighed their minimal success in their last four games in the Allsvenskan.

Norrkoping now occupy third from bottom place in the Swedish top flight table and therefore the relegation play-off position prior to this early relegation ‘six-pointer' at the PlatinumCars Arena, while the bigger picture shows Norrkoping have managed to capture just four wins out of their last 15 games overall.

Three of these four wins have been achieved on home soil against Varberg, GAIS and Elfsborg respectively although Andreas Alm's side have also been dealt nine defeats within this 15-game sequence so the hosts are by no means guaranteed a result here.

Varnamo slipped to a dismal 2-0 defeat at home to second from bottom outfit Kalmar last week which ended a three-match unbeaten sequence in the domestic top flight that consisted of wins against Hammarby and Vasteras, with 2-1 and 2-0 victories respectively, and both of which were also achieved on their travels as well.

However, the visitors have also found league wins hard to come by in recent times as Varnamo have managed to register just three wins from their last 12 matches overall which includes a previous 1-0 win on the road at Sirius along with suffering six defeats as well.

Despite the six defeats though (only two of which were away from home), the one thing in Varnamo's favour is that each of the aforementioned three wins that Varnamo have collected within this 12-match sequence have all been recorded on their travels which could well set Anes Mravac's side up for a positive result here at the PlatinumCars Arena on Monday night.

Results away from home have also been extremely encouraging for Varnamo as the visitors have collected eight wins from their last 11 outings on the road and this sort of form away from home should give Varnamo plenty of confidence for this upcoming trip.
