Valencia will be looking to halt a four-match winless run in the Spanish top flight on Sunday lunchtime when they play host to Alaves in a relegation battle at their Estadio de Mestalla having lost three of their last four games overall, leaving the hosts bottom of the La Liga table.

Alaves have also struggled for wins in La Liga in recent times as the visitors have failed to win any of their last five games overall in the domestic top flight, suffering two losses and being involved in three draws.

Valencia have registered just two wins throughout this season's La Liga campaign which were both achieved on home soil at their Estadio de Mestalla by virtue of wins collected against Girona and Real Betis respectively, but the hosts have also been handed nine defeats within their 16 matches to date.

However, although Valencia have slipped to three recent losses at the hands of Mallorca, Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid, the fact that both of Valencia's successes this season have been recorded at home gives the upcoming hosts reason to feel fairly confident about their chances on Sunday lunchtime.

Goals may be in short supply though for this upcoming encounter on Sunday as six out of Valencia's last 10 home games have resulted in Under 2.5 goals.

Alaves find themselves perched precariously just above the relegation zone in the La Liga table having been held to a third stalemate on the trot when they drew 1-1 at home with Athletic Bilbao.

The visitors had previously slipped to back-to-back defeats at the hands of Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, both of which were away from home, along with being involved in two previous draws with the likes of Leganes and Osasuna.

Results overall have been poor where Alaves have been concerned as the visitors have managed to gain just the single victory from their previous 11 matches in the Spanish top flight whilst also being dealt seven defeats in the process as well.

That rare highlight came in the shape of a 1-0 home win against Mallorca while five out of Alaves' last 11 matches have also resulted in Under 2.5 goals.

Results away from home have not been much better for Eduardo Coudet's side as the visitors have managed to capture just two wins from their last 16 outings on the road which also includes slipping to 11 defeats, so confidence is not expected to be too high amongst the Alaves camp ahead of Sunday lunchtime's clash with Valencia.
