Getafe will go in search of collecting their first win of this new Spanish top flight season on Monday night when they play host to Alaves at their Coliseum Alfonso Pérez after picking up just one point from their opening two games of this season, while visitors, Alaves, will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in La Liga.

An opening day 0-0 draw at home with last season's La Liga title winners, Barcelona, saw Getafe off to a steady start in this new domestic top flight campaign but although they were highly fancied to take all three points in last weekend's away trip at Girona, Getafe were handed an unexpected and heavy 3-0 defeat instead.

Having drawn their final game of last season 0-0 with Real Valladolid, that's now three league matches without a goal for Getafe although the hosts have lost just once in their last six matches overall in La Liga, picking up two wins within this period by way of victories against Real Betis and Osasuna.

Getafe have been fairly solid on home soil though at their Coliseum Alfonso Pérez as the hosts have lost just once in their last 10 matches and the home side have also picked up five wins in the process along with keeping five clean sheets as well.

Alaves finished the regular La Liga 2 season in fourth place but the visitors successfully navigated their way through the play-offs by firstly beating Eibar 3-1 on aggregate in the play-off semi-final and then secured their Spanish top flight status for this upcoming season by recording a 1-0 win on aggregate against Levante.

Although Alaves were welcomed into this new La Liga campaign with a 1-0 defeat away from home at Cadiz, the newly promoted side managed to bounce back in impressive fashion as they registered a 4-3 home win against Sevilla in last weekend's opening home game of the season.

This recent victory is therefore a welcome boost for the visitors ahead of this upcoming trip to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez where they'll face a Getafe outfit who finished last season in a lowly 15th place in the final La Liga standings and just two points above the relegation zone.

Alaves may therefore fancy their chances of springing a surprise against Getafe on Monday night, especially as they have recorded a win this season while Getafe have yet to open their account.

Interestingly, each of the last six meetings between Getafe and Alaves have ended in stalemate and although the previous trends suggest another draw here on Monday night, it could be Alaves who pick up a narrow win here at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
