Barcelona returned to winning ways in the Spanish top flight before the international break with a resounding 3-0 win away from home at Alaves which helped maintain the hosts' position at the top of the La Liga table, while Sevilla also picked up all three points prior to the break with a 1-0 home win against Real Betis.

Barcelona had previously slipped to a surprising 4-2 defeat away from home at Osasuna in their previous match but the hosts quickly clicked back into gear and headed into the break with a three-point cushion over second placed Real Madrid prior to this weekend's action in La Liga.

Sevilla bring a three-game unbeaten run in La Liga into this upcoming encounter at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Sunday night following two wins and a draw which has helped lift the visitors up into 12th place in the La Liga standings.

Recent wins against Real Valladolid 2-1 and Real Betis 1-0 were either side of a point picked up in a creditable 1-1 draw away from home at Athletic Bilbao, and having also previously picked up all three points by way of a 1-0 home win against Getafe, the visitors will be quietly confident about their chances in this clash.

However, the bigger picture shows Sevilla have managed to register just these three wins from their last 13 games overall in the Spanish top flight so this upcoming away trip against the league leaders may just be a bridge too far for Garcia Pimienta's side, especially as Sevilla have failed to win any of their last seven away games.
