A solid and impressive 2-0 home win against Atletico Madrid not only handed Athletic Bilbao a useful three-point haul at their San Mamés Barria but that win also extended the hosts' unbeaten run in the Spanish top flight to seven games overall, while Las Palmas extended their unbeaten run in La Liga to three matches when they picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at home with Cadiz.

In addition, Las Palmas have picked up seven wins within this period and includes wins collected on their travels at Villarreal, Almeria and Alaves but this has perhaps been the exception rather than the norm as these have been Las Palmas's only wins from their previous 26 outings on the road.
